North Abington Township is a Township of the Second Class in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. It is located approximately 10 miles north of Scranton, Pennsylvania, and is located in the suburban area known as "the Abingtons."
North Abington is located just a few miles north of Clarks Summit Borough and borders Waverly Township and Dalton Borough to the south, as well as Benton Township to the north. The population of North Abington Township was 703 at the 2010 census.
North Abington Township and Benton Township are home to the 1,445-acre Lackawanna State Park. Lake Lackawanna, a 198-acre man-made lake, is the central focus of recreation at the park. Lackawanna State Park is located on Route 407, and easily accessible by exit 199 of Interstate 81. The lake is open to boating and cold and warm water fishing; however, no gas-powered motors are premitted on the lake. The Lackawanna State Park also boasts many additional amenities including hunting areas, 5 miles of hiking trails, a 61-site campground, picnic areas and a swimming pool.
